SHSC Energy Management has more than 20 years of experience in the smart home and energy industry.
We began helping homeowners protect their homes with smart security systems in 2002. By 2004, we partnered with GE Security and Sony to help build some of the first smart homes for large production builders, installing low-voltage systems in thousands of homes throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Our work included projects with major builders such as Lennar, Brookfield, and Shapell, with many installations in the Windemere community of San Ramon.
While we began in home security and later expanded into smart home automation, today our focus is helping homeowners in the East Bay protect their energy costs through thoughtfully designed solar and battery systems that support greater energy independence.
Although SHSC Energy Management now focuses primarily on solar and battery solutions, we continue to connect homeowners with trusted partners for smart home security when needed.
We look forward to helping you take greater control of your home’s energy and long-term energy costs.

Do you believe PG&E rates will go down, stay the same or continue to rise…? It may be time to see how much you’ll save switching to solar?
In 2021, PG&E changed pricing to TOU rates (Time of Use). They promoted it as a way for homeowners to shift the time they use energy to save money. Of course, it ended up creating some of the highest peak rates in the nation. When you need electric power most, from 4-9PM, peak rates in the summer are close to $.60 a kWh. Wow!
Many of the neighborhoods in Contra Costa and Alameda counties have very reliable electric power from PG&E. However, some neighborhoods can not rely on PG&E and other neighborhoods experience rolling blackouts.
If you need to make sure to have power 100% of the time… solar and battery systems could be the answer to provide electric power during PG&E power outages.
NEM 3.0 (Net Energy Metering 3.0), or the Net Billing Tariff, is a California Public Utilities Commission policy effective April 15, 2023. It sets the rates utility companies in California pay homeowners for electric power they export to the grid.
VPP (Virtual Power Plant) participation acts as a revenue-booster that makes investing in a battery essential to achieving export payments for solar energy sent to the grid. Virtual Power Plant (VPP) event payments create an additional income stream to improve solar+storage project returns.
Properly designing a solar + battery system is essential to getting the highest level of financial benefit from installing a solar system.
Homeowners in the East Bay want an end to paying some of the highest utility rates in the United States. Becoming energy independent is key to controlling your cost of electric power.
