At the center of the story is my longtime friend and business partner, Dave Loetz, owner of SecurityPro Group.

Dave and I have worked together for more than twenty-five years. Our journey began as managers at American Home Improvement Products, at the time the nation’s largest home improvement company and a major installation contractor for Sears. It was there that we learned the importance of customer service, operational excellence and building organizations that homeowners could trust.

As home technology began to evolve, Dave and I recognized an opportunity to help build the connected homes of the future. Together we founded Interactive Home, designing and installing structured wiring, security systems, distributed audio, networking, and home automation for many of Northern California’s largest production builders, including Lennar and Brookfield Residential. Working with technology leaders such as GE Security, Sony, and Klipsch, Interactive Home became recognized as one of the Top 100 Low Voltage Integrators in the United States by CE Pro magazine.

When the housing market calapsed during the 2007–2009 recession, we shifted our focus back to our core strength—professionally monitored smart home security. Together we built California Security Pro, which later became SecurityPro Group, into one of the nation’s largest ADT Authorized Dealers, earning recognition multiple times as a Top 10 ADT Authorized Dealer in the United States.

The relationship I have with Dave is where my journey in the smart home industry truly began. It established the foundation for everything SHSC Energy Management represents today: long-term relationships, technical excellence, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to serving homeowners well.

Along that journey, I had the privilege of working alongside some of the finest professionals in our industry.

Jarrett McAllister served as our Vice President of Business Development at SecurityPro Group for more than twenty years before becoming one of Got Watts’ top Solar Energy Designers. Jarrett later introduced me to Jeremy, owner of Got Watts. That introduction became the foundation of one of SHSC Energy Management’s most important partnerships.

Carl Henderson was one of our Installation Managers at SecurityPro Group. His commitment to quality and customer care eventually led him to establish Connect and Protect, specializing in low-voltage systems, networking, security infrastructure, and commercial technology solutions. Because of the trust we had built over many years, I later introduced Carl to my brother-in-law, Bret Locus, whose expertise in enterprise networking, surveillance camera systems, and electronic access control has further strengthened Connect and Protect’s technical capabilities.

Another respected Installation Manager from SecurityPro Group was Pat Amatrone. Pat later became the Operations Manager for Full Spectrum Technology Group, one of Northern California’s premier luxury smart home integration companies.

My relationship with Full Spectrum actually began years earlier when Sean Mendell, then an owner of InVision Home Theater, contacted me after finding our company online. Sean was looking for a security partner whose reputation matched the level of craftsmanship his clients expected on large custom homes. Our shared commitment to exceptional customer service led to a successful partnership on numerous luxury home projects throughout the Bay Area. During those projects, Pat and Sean developed a strong professional relationship that eventually led Pat to join Full Spectrum’s leadership team.

Looking back over more than two decades, there is a common thread through every one of these relationships.

None of them were created through contracts.

Throughout my career, I have also been passionate about educating homeowners. Through seminars, consulting, and hundreds of articles on smart homes, security, home automation, and now smart energy management, my goal has always been to help families make informed decisions about their homes.

Today, SHSC Energy Management brings together that lifetime of experience with a carefully selected network of professionals whom I know personally and trust completely. I know their character. I know their workmanship. I know how they care for customers long after the installation is complete.
